Prudential RideLondon is the world’s greatest festival of cycling, with more than 100,000 cyclists expected to participate during the weekend of 29-31 July 2016. The festival combines the fun and accessible element of a free family ride in central London with the excitement of watching the world’s best professional cyclist’s race.
Amateur cyclists can join the professionals by riding a 100-mile or 46-mile challenge which will stretch right through the Surrey Hills. If you are close to the area then be sure to head over and support this fantastic event.
Claremont Landscape Garden – Bat Walk
Join the Surrey Bat Group for an evening walk in Claremont Landscape Garden. Learn about the species of bats at Claremont and use bat detectors to hear the sound they make as they fly. Adult tickets are priced at £9.00 and children £4.50.
Storytelling sessions to celebrate Roald Dahl’s 100th Birthday
Join Garson’s Esher every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the summer as they read some of their favourite Roald Dahl books. Storytelling sessions will take place at 10am and 1.30pm from 2nd August until 1st September. Books include the BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda and Fantastic Mr Fox. There will also be in-store activities based on each week’s story.
Summer Activity Camp
If you are looking for a summer holiday activity camp, then look no further. Painshill Wild Summer Camp in Cobham allows kids to have a wild time with woodland crafts, den building, campfires, treasure hunts and other outdoor fun. Prices are £40 per day or £170 for five days and children must be aged 8 to 13 years old.
Claremont Landscape Garden – Dutch Orchestra
On Claremont Landscape Garden are set to host a Showorkest Hamoine Fortissimo, a wind orchestra visiting from The Netherlands. Bring a picnic and a rug and settle down to hear some great music. No booking is needed and gates open at 10:00.
Historic Crystal Grotto Tour
On this tour you will have the opportunity to visit the fully restored crystal grotto. You can learn all about how the Grotto was created and experience the dazzling stalactites. Discover more about the other magical follies and the historic plantings. Find out more about Charles Hamilton who was a painter, plantsman and brilliantly imaginative designer and experience a series of beautiful scenes which continually change and surprise you. Cost is £10 for adults and £7 for children.
